There are two things that I enjoy equally in my life that I relax to. The first is reading. I will devour book after book if I had a little more time in the day. I read a lot of YA, but I also read mystery and tales that take you on an adventure present and past. Tales that make you fall in love and tales that give you heartbreak. Ones that weave a tale so beautifully told that you are transported to another world and for that small time you leap from your chair into the pages of the book. I feel heartbroken after I read a book that my time with these character has ended. I find that I need time after some books to mourn the lose of these strong characters. Yes you can always go back and read book (which I often do, and have my favorites) but when you do the characters are like seeing family at a reunion. I know where the characters evolve to and what they go through to get there. I appreciate them, but I still am left wondering where in the world they are living and what they are doing after the story. I find I like to think of them living somewhere in a literary world among other literary characters having more of a life than a brief moment that we tend to see and live with them in a book.
The second thing that I enjoy is cooling. I love spending the weekend in the kitchen cooking or baking. I find it relaxing to have a pile of ingredients and to transform them into something beautiful or something that tastes wonderful! Because lets be honest with ourselves, I think we have all made something that looked not so pretty but still tasted amazing! At least I know that I have! I also have found that when I have a sweet tooth that just the simple task of making a cake or cookies or pies will make that sweet tooth disappear. I do not normally eat the deserts that I make, I just enjoy making them. My family however enjoys the fact that I make them!
After talking to some family and friends about my passions, I was told that I should start a blog. My mother of course loves the Pioneer Woman and just recently went to Oklahoma to see the Mercantile so she would love to see me become a food blogger! I just don’t know that I would have enough content to keep a blog going on my food alone. I am a mother of a son who is in soccer, band and Cross country. He keeps me busy as well so I do not have the time int he evening to make beautiful dishes. The food during the week is very typical food that ever family is making. Nothing to write to the world about! However after speaking with a friend, she suggested that I meld my two loves together….cooking and reading. I will be honest I wasn’t sure, but over the last few days and weeks I cannot seem to kick the idea out of my head. So here I am…about to expose myself and start a blog for the world to see. I do not know where this journey will take me, but I hope that you will join me for the ride!
So coming soon…Please stick around to see what I will be cooking!
